My Barcelona Pavilion Trailer

higher quality of this video can be found in my folders uploaded in mediafire.

Strategy Statement

Barcelona Pavilion

Materials

Roof - Blue Tile with some moss on the corners.

Floor - Marble Tiles with moss growing in the cracks.

Walls - Dirty glass,  Marble with alot of moss growing in the cracks and  also covering the surface and broken plaster walls exposing bricks with moss.

Moss

The plan for the Barcelona Pavilion is to make it look as real as possible through bump maps, spec maps and decay effects.  The materials i used are Marble with moss, wooden blocks, glass, tile, plasterboard and plasterboard peeling with bricks exposed. The bricks, tile, marble and plasterboard would have the most moss on them as they show more cracking, followed by the wood with a little less moss,  and the material with the least moss would be the glass.

Cracking

The cracks in each material will vary. The cracks on the plasterboard would be long and the material will be light, same with the roof although the roof will heavier then the plasterboard. The wooden walls will have sharp splinters and fragmentations, the marble, brick, and glass textures would have many broken fragmentations and the most out of all the materials used on the building.

Downloads

i uploaded my files separately because the limit to upload was 200mb and my folders were over that so i got 2 files i didn't know what to name it or if i would lose marks for it but one of the files is named z3420230_stefan_koteski which has everything but the crysis levels and the other does

1. Crysis download - http://www.mediafire.com/?j20s27f70j4zs7m

Week 05 - Notion of decay

 Barcelona Pavilion

Floor Tiles - the floor tiles will have moss coming out from the cracks aswell as some moss on the surface in the middle, but mainly the moss will come out from the cracks.

Wood - The wood will have some green moss on it, attempting to grow from random places, parts of the wood would be chipped and missing maybe from termites, rain and other environmental impacts.

Plaster walls - the plaster walls will be broken down with bricks showing. The mold would come from inside the bricks and inbetween where the bricks and plaster meet.

Glass - the glass will be blurry and brownish to show dirt, also the glass will be broken from maybe environmental impact.

Marble walls - Marble walls would have some missing pieces and moss growing on them. Pieces will be missing from environmental impact and aging.

Week 04 - Blend Layer

Week 03 - Sketch Idea

WEEK 03 - Images of deconstruction & direction

MY DIRECTION

The Direction im going with, with my assignment is trying to make everything seem real as possible. The metal columns will barely be breakable and will be the heaviest material, the roof will break into big pieces, the walls will be fairly heavy aswell and break into small peices. I will have a pool with fog and the inside of my building will be foggy to give the effect of aging. My building will also have broken peices around it to give the effect of decay and age.

Week 02 Materials Research

Metal

when iron reacts with oxygen it forms ferrous oxide which peels off the surface of metal and results in rusting of metals.this happens in few 4-5days.

Pros- steel is lighter than wood, concrete and brick. It can't warp, expand, contract, absorb water, feed termites, rust, catch fire or become a breeding ground for fungus.

con -  it is an excellent conductor of heat, so in colder areas, the heat can be absorbed into the structure and quickly lost. Mold also has a tendency of growing around steel studs in the winter.

Uses - Metal is used as structural framework for larger buildings such as skyscrapers, or as an external surface covering. There are many types of metals used for building. Steel is a metal alloy whose major component is iron, and is the usual choice for metal structural building materials. It is strong, flexible, and if refined well and/or treated lasts a long time. Corrosion is metal's prime enemy when it comes to longevity.

Tile

pros

1. Long Lasting Ceramic When installed and maintained properly, will last for the life of your home.

2. Low Maintenance Ceramic cleans easily with a neutral floor cleaner.

3. Virtually Unlimited Designs Ceramic offers a wide variety of designs, colors and patterns.

4. Stands Up to High Traffic Extremely durable ceramic is an excellent choice for high traffic areas.

5. Great Investment Although ceramic is harder to install than other flooring, it is an investment that pays off, increasing the value of your home.

Cons

1. Difficult to Install Professional installation is highly recommended, and can be expensive.

2. May Chip or Crack Ceramic's hardness makes it susceptible to chipping or cracking from impact.

3. Hard, Unforgiving Surface Ceramic is not easy on breakable objects or muscles and joints. Plates and glass may break; knees and elbows may bruise from falls; and standing on a very hard floor can cause muscle fatigue.

4. Colder Perception Ceramic may feel cooler to the touch than other floor types, in low-temperature environments.

Uses - ceramic tiling can be used for bathroom floors and walls and any wet other wet areas such as kitchens.

Marble

Pro-

1. An elegant, expressive material, marble conveys good taste and refinement. Marble will complement many different styles of decor, from the classical to ultra-modern.

2. The exceptional hardness inherent to marble is actually a benefit. You will never have to be concerned that your dog's claws are scratching up your floor, as you might with hardwood flooring.

3. The lifespan of marble is exceptional, thanks to its durability. Marble is one of the oldest building materials, favored by the Greeks and Romans. Evidence of their exceptional marble-work still exists today.

cons -

1. not quite as easy as maintaining ceramic or granite floor tiles. In order to keep marble tiles shiny and clean, you need to regularly polish them. Marble requires special cleaning.

2. a spilled glass of red wine may require replacement of a tile if it hasn't been appropriately polished and sealed. Marble floor tiles will not be appropriate for an area of the house where accident-prone children are likely to drop a cup full of juice.

Uses - iIt provides an excellent internal wall and floor finish, particularly in such applications as the entrance halls of public buildings, offices, banks, hotels, leisure complexes, shopping malls and individual shops.

Week 04 - Movie trailers

BABYLON AD

the war likeatmosphere and the cool colour tones of this movie are something that i would like to use when showing my building off through a warlike abandoned scenery.

 BEHIND ENEMY LINES

the atmosphere of the abondoned buildings, the cool colouring of the screening shots, the plot of the movie and the war theme will suit my environment as the countries and surroundings are really similar to my environment.

I AM LEGEND

everything in this movie influences me to create an abondoned building and surrounding, as the movie is about if humans didnt exist for a long period of time. The only change would be that the environment is in a forest and not a city.

PLANET OF THE APES

The screening and camera shots of this movie could be used for my trailer with its fast paced scenery.

SAVING PRIVATE RYAN

the warlike atmosphere in the intense camera shots in this movie aswell as the colouring could also play a roll in my overall outcome for my assignment.

Number and letter ideas

1. make my number and letter out of rock almost as if it is a tunnel

2. have my number and letter come out from the edge of the map into the ocean.

3. have my number and letter arranged using buildings to form the shape aswell as roads

4. using a fire burning in my level in the shape of my letter and number could also be possible

5. using decals of explosions and modified terrain caused by the explosion be another possible subliminal idea.

Week 5 Work

Proof of Decals

Proof of vegetation covering open areas

the number 10 made of mountains and a bridge connecting the I and the 0

3 pictures

i like the way the rocks work with the ground texture in his photo and i think it is really similar to what i am trying to achieve in my environment.

The way the land and sky work with each other the dark and lightness of the photo has influenced me to create my terrain and sky in a similar way.

this photo shows a cloudy and more foggy environment and has influenced me in creating the amount of fog in my environment .
